Biography
Mark started his optometric journey at the young age of 13 while working weekends and school holidays at his father’s practice in Parow. His passion for Optometry started here and has only grown since then.
Mark went on to qualify as a Dispensing Optician at the Cape Peninsular University of Technology and joined Tonkil Optometrists Parow full time in 1995. In 2004 he qualified as an Optometrist. He has since furthered his studies by obtaining diagnostic privileges through the Advanced Eyecare Institute. Mark ensures he always keeps up to date with the latest eyecare information, training and news.
With over two decades of experience across all aspects of optometry, Mark has a special interest in complex contact lens cases including Rigid Gas Permeable, Hybrid and Scleral lens fitting for keratoconus and post corneal surgery. He is a member of the South African Optometric Association and has served on the Board of Directors.
Nothing brings Mark greater professional satisfaction than improving the vision of a patient in his care.
Mark enjoys mountain biking, his regular weekly poker game and getting out and about with friends and family on the weekends. Together Mark and Bronwen run both the practices and a home with 3 amazing children, Zara, Mia and Alexander.
